Establishing a Named Scholarship

This enduring form of philanthropy creates a lasting legacy while providing a reliable source of scholarship support for Ocean County College students well into the future.

Endowed Scholarship Fund

An Endowed Named Scholarship may be established with a minimum commitment of $20,000, payable as a one-time gift or over a period of up to three years.

Donors may choose to support the general scholarship needs of Ocean County College students or establish specific eligibility criteria, such as area of study, enrollment status, academic achievement, financial need, or other preferences that reflect the donor’s philanthropic goals.

Endowed scholarships are designed to provide support for students in perpetuity. Once the fund reaches the minimum funding level, the Ocean County College Foundation invests the principal and distributes an annual spending allocation in accordance with the Foundation’s spending policy and the fund agreement. The principal, or corpus, of the fund is preserved, ensuring that scholarship awards are funded from investment earnings and available to benefit generations of students.

The full minimum gift of $20,000 must be received before the fund becomes eligible to generate an annual scholarship distribution. Many donors choose to supplement the annual endowment payout with additional current-use gifts, allowing the scholarship to provide a larger award to students each year.

Non-Endowed Scholarship

A Non-Endowed Named Scholarship may be established with a minimum commitment of $500. With this commitment, you can choose to have the fund support all students, or you can select criteria and preferences regarding the students receiving the funds. These include specific areas of study, enrollment status, GPA, and other criteria as desired.

This can be an ongoing annual award or a one-time award. Awards are distributed until the funds are exhausted.
